Every year FALA New York presents its "Making It" series. Each "Making It" session focuses on a topic of interest for its members. A leader in the topic area selected will speak with members about how to carve a path in a particular field, succeed in a certain role, or how to apply, recruit, and/or interview for a specific position.

During this conversation, we will learn about Bethany Li’s commitment to community lawyering, the history and legacy of AALDEF, the strategic direction and growth for AALDEF, and the evolving partnerships between AALDEF and the APA bar. Founded in 1974, AALDEF has spent five decades championing social justice issues affecting Asian Americans through litigation, advocacy, community education, and policy initiatives. 2024 marked the 50th Anniversary of AALDEF and the appointment of Bethany Li as Executive Director of the organization. Pinay Powerhouse 8 is the eighth annual chapter of a women’s conference focused on empowering Filipina attorneys and aspiring attorneys as leaders in the law, and this year FALA New York's sister affiliate FALA D.C. will be hosting the conference. Volunteer at this session of FALA New York and Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund's (FALDEF) Know Your Rights series, entitled Rights of the Undocumented.
