PresidentJENNA AGATEP SLATERJenna is an associate at Wilson Elser, where she practices defense-side labor and employment law. Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Jenna was an associate for boutique firms in New York and Boston where she practiced plaintiff-side labor and employment law and civil rights litigation, respectively. Prior to becoming an attorney, Jenna was a Litigation Paralegal at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, and Garrison LLP, and Client Success Manager at JOOR where she assisted luxury fashion companies in their B2B sales to retailers. Jenna received her law degree in 2021 from Northeastern University School of Law, where she was an editor of the Northeastern University Law Review and member of the Community Business Clinic. Jenna was also a judicial intern for the Honorable Denise J. Casper, U.S. District Judge for the District of Massachusetts. During law school she received Northeastern’s Denise Carty-Bennia Memorial Award. Jenna received her master’s in Fashion Law (with an emphasis on workers rights) from Fordham University School of Law in 2017 and graduated cum laude from Marist College in 2014. Jenna has been a member of FALA New York since 2020 and is involved with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, National Filipino American Lawyers Association, and Asian American Bar Association of New York. Jenna is the recipient of the 2020 Asian American Law Fund of New York’s Public Interest Scholarship, and FALA New York’s inaugural Robin Mangaser Tizon Memorial Scholarship for her volunteer work with the Asian community, including the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns. Jenna interned with AABANY’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee, where she focused on servicing Asian communities in Queens that were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Jenna is a NYC native; she was born and raised in The Bronx, resided in Manhattan following undergrad and until law school, and now resides in Queens. Jenna loves exploring and eating through Queens with her husband and their dog, Boba, and watching the New York Knicks. |
| President-electchristopher arcitioChristopher Arcitio is an Adjunct Professor of Law at The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He is an 8th year attorney and was previously Of Counsel at the mid-size law firm of Kaufman Dolowich, LLP, defending state and federal lawsuits on matters involving commercial litigation, professional liability, general liability and insurance coverage and litigation. He has trained, supervised, evaluated and mentored summer associates, first year and junior associates, paralegals and legal assistants. He also taught a New York Civil Litigation writing course at St. John's University School of Law. Christopher is authored an article entitled Unraveling the Inequitable Nature of the Model Minority: Asian Americans Deserve Affirmative Action with the Tennessee Journal of Race, Gender and Social Justice. He authored a Thomas Reuters article entitled The Impact of RICO Lawsuits on Bodily Injury Claims: Guidance for Insurers. Christopher joined FALA NY in 2023 and became a Board Member/Treasurer of FALA NY in 2024. During his first year as a Board Member, on behalf of FALA NY, he led the National Filipino American Lawyers Association's (NFALA) Foundation first ever in-person NFALA-ganza! 2025 at the National Historic Stonewall Inn NYC, an annual event that raises funds for law student scholarships for LGBTQIA+ Filipino American law students. He also moderated a panel entitled Lift As We Rise: Why Should We Teach? at the 2025 NFALA Mid-Year Leadership Summit in NYC. His leadership experience includes being a two-year Board Member/Secretary of St. John's Alumni of Color Chapter, a Board Director of St. John's Alumni Association, an Inaugural Cohort Fellow for the NFALA Leadership Academy, and as a national committee member for the NAPABA Law Foudation's annual Judge Thomas Tang and Dr. Pearl Tang Moot Court Competition. His recent accomplishments include a CLE entitled The 2025 Pitch for DE&I: The Business Case for Diversity in the Law and the acceptance of his workshop proposal at the 2025 NAPABA Convention on reaching milestones in the legal profession. Prior to being a law clerk, Kristine was an associate at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP in product liability and consumer protection litigation. While in private practice, Kristine served as lead trial counsel for the plaintiff in a prisoners' civil rights case in the Southern District of New York, wherein she obtained a jury verdict for her client on excessive force claims against several corrections officers. Kristine graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, where she was a board member of the Dispute Resolution Society, a member of Moot Court, and a research fellow and student advisory board member of the Urban Law Center. While in law school, Kristine was a judicial intern for the Honorable Paul G. Gardephe, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Upon graduating, she received the National Association of Women Lawyers Award. Kristine was also a national semi-finalist in the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition in 2018. She provides strategic counsel to employers on compliance with federal and state laws, including but not limited to hiring practices, termination procedures, discrimination prevention, wage-and-hour regulations, disability accommodations, risk management strategies, and internal investigations. In addition, Tatjana advises clients on best practices for employment policies, contracts, and diversity and inclusion issues. She is well-versed in drafting workplace policies, handbooks, and employment agreements for employers. Before joining Wilson Elser, Tatjana worked at Kaufman Dolowich, where her practice focused on labor and employment disputes and the defense of claims involving general liability and professional liability. She was a core member of an attorney team that advised employers on critical compliance requirements, assessed potential risks related to clients’ business operations, and worked in collaboration with clients’ in-house counsel and human resources partners to minimize litigation exposure. | Communications SecretaryRey llenaRey Llena is a legal professional and communications strategist currently serving as a Manager in Global Risk & Compliance at American Express, where he supports U.S. Corporate Solutions through cross-functional collaboration, regulatory analysis, and risk assessment of business processes. Rey earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School, where he completed a Certificate in Intellectual Property from the Innovation Center for Law and Technology. While there, he was a Student Intern in the Patent Law Clinic, assisting clients with patentability assessments, prior art reviews, application drafting, and responding to USPTO office actions. He also served as a Teaching Fellow mentoring first-year students, a Teaching Assistant for Property Law, and a volunteer with the Hon. Judge Gesmer in teaching fundamentals of criminal law at the High School for Law and Advocacy in Manhattan. In addition, Rey was a Summer Intern at the City Bar Justice Center, where he worked with the Veterans Assistance Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Trinity College, where he was awarded the Posse Foundation Leadership Scholarship. Prior to law school, Rey was the Senior Coordinator of Communications and the Executive Office at Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC), where he supported C-suite leadership in communications, program development, and fundraising. | TreasurerKIRSTEN TAMAYOKirsten J. Tamayo is currently an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and was formerly an Assistant Corporation Counsel at the New York City Law Department’s Family Court Division. While an ADA, Kirsten has prosecuted a number of trials, including the trial of a Brooklyn man who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for assaulting two Modell’s Sporting Goods employees in Williamsburg. Kirsten attended the City University of New York School of Law and Manhattanville College. While in law school, Kirsten interned with Legal Aid Society and Legal Services NYC. Kirsten was Co-President of the Civil Service Association, a member of the CUNY Law Mock Trial Team, a board member of the Law Enforcement and Prosecution Initiative, and a coordinator for Court Advocates Project. Kirsten has been a board member of FALA New York since 2023. While on the board, Kirsten has ensured the board's timely arrival at events (no Filipino time!) and streamlined the board's membership application process. She currently resides in the Bronx with her partner, two birds, and a rabbit. |

Sofia represents companies and non-profit organizations in a broad range of employment-related matters. Her practice includes the defense of management in employment litigation, including claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the New York State Division of Human Rights (NYS-DHR). She also advises clients on internal investigations, compliance strategies, and risk mitigation. In addition, Sofia counsels employers on immigration compliance and employee visa matters, with particular experience in H-1B Specialty Occupation petitions before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Sofia also gained immigration law experience serving as a law clerk for Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, where she helped clients with citizenship, greencard, visa, and asylum applications and interviews. Sofia obtained her B.A. in Political Economy and Human Rights from U.C. Berkeley, and her J.D. from U.C. College of the Law, San Francisco. While in law school, Sofia was Co-President of the Pilipinx American Law Society, student coordinator for the Legal Aid and Referral Clinic, and a competitor, coach, and board member for U.C. louise M. lingatLouise M. Lingat is an Associate Court Attorney with the Office of Court Administration (OCA). She is currently Court Attorney to the Honorable Adetokunbo O. Fasanya in Queens County Family Court. Louise is also an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing at Cardozo School of Law. Prior to being a court attorney, Louise previously worked for the child protective agency of New York City, known as Administration for Children’s Service/NYC Children’s Services (ACS) as an agency attorney handling child abuse and neglect cases. Louise obtained her J.D. from Maurice A. Deane School of Law, Hofstra University and obtained her B.A. in Political Science and Theology from Fordham University. While in law school, Louise was a research assistant at the Hofstra Youth Advocacy Clinic. Louise is a published author of a note entitled Keeping the Family Together: Why New York Must Amend Evidence Rules to Protect a Parent's Right to be a Parent with Family Court Review, An Interdisciplinary Journal (2019). Louise has been a member of FALA New York since 2018. While serving as FALA New York's President-Elect, Louise was the co-chair of the 2023 Pinay Powerhouse Conference hosted by FALA New York, which featured the theme PiNaY State of Mind and keynote speaker NAPABA President Anna Mercado Clark and businesswoman Loida Lewis. During her time as President, Louise ushered in a marked increase in FALA New York's engagement with the wider Filipino community, including with the Philippine Consulate and the Filipino American Democrats, as well as FALA New York's visibility with other Asian bar affiliates. angelica lopezAngelica Lopez is a partner with Pillinger Miller Tarallo, LLP. Prior to her role at PMT, Angelica was Special Counsel at Kennedys and a partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP. After completing high school in Manila, Angelica moved to the United States, where she obtained her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College. There, she served as a peer mentor in the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing (SAW) program while completing an internship with the U.S. Consulate in the Philippines in the summer. Angelica went on to earn her J.D. from Western New England University School of Law, where she was named to the Dean’s List and recognized for her advocacy skills—receiving honors such as best oral advocate and best overall advocate. She also competed as a member of the Frederick Douglass Moot Court team. Angelica received merit-based scholarships throughout her undergraduate and legal studies. Angelica has over 15 years of experience litigating civil matters in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and the Southern District of New York. caitlin ramiroCaitlin Ramiro is a judicial law clerk for the Eastern District of New York. Previously, she was a Brand Reputation and Management and Litigation Associate at Brown Rudnick LLP. Caitlin graduated from Fordham Law School. While at Fordham Law, Caitlin served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Denny Chin, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Caitlin was also a criminal defense clinic legal intern with the Lincoln Center Legal Services, Legislation and Regulation teaching assistant, and a research assistant for Professor Jed Shugerman. Johan TatoyJohan is Counsel in the Litigation Department at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and has litigated matters involving allegations of securities fraud, environmental damage, and price fixing. Johan also brings 10 years' experience as an attorney, including his time as a seconded attorney in the litigation departments of two companies. Johan maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in asylum applications, housing actions, and challenges to criminal convictions. Through his pro bono practice, Johan has assisted in drafting amicus briefs and petitions for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court and state supreme courts, including an amicus brief in support of affirmative action in United States v. Fisher, and in opposition to the addition of a citizenship question in Dep’t of Commerce v. New York. Johan served as a law clerk to the Hon. Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in the Northern District of California. He obtained his B.A. in Classical Studies and History, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, and his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2013. While at Columbia, he served as a managing director for the Columbia Human Rights Law Review. Johan has been a member of FALA New York since 2015.
