Applications for the 2025 Robin Mangaser Tizon Memorial Scholarship are open now through May 23, 2025.  Submit your application here.  If you are interested in applying for this scholarship and have any questions or concerns, or if you are interested in contributing to this scholarship, please email info@falanewyork.org.

    ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

In collaboration with NFALA Foundation, FALA New York awards the Robin Mangaser Tizon Memorial Law Scholarship in honor of Robin’s accomplishments as a Filipina-American and lawyer, selfless service to the community, and extraordinary spirit.  The scholarship is awarded to law students who most exemplify the values that she championed.

Robin was a beloved wife, daughter, sister and proud Filipina-American lawyer.  Throughout her life, Robin devoted herself to advocacy of many causes, including Filipino veterans’ rights, adolescents with cancer, and immigrants’ rights.  She also had musical talent and a fine eye for design, enlivening any event with her singing, dancing, and keyboard skills.  After overcoming stage III ovarian cancer at the age of 23, Robin achieved her dream of becoming a lawyer, graduating from Rutgers School of Law-Camden in 2013 with a joint JD/MBA degree.  As one of the first members and original Co-Chair of the Public Relations Committee, Robin was instrumental in establishing FALA New York's brand and lasting communications strategy.  Throughout her long battle with cancer, Robin remained committed to her duties at FALA New York.

This scholarship was established to honor Robin’s memory and support talented law students who embody her spirit and commitment to service.

A list of past recipients is available here.

This year is a momentous year for FALA New York—From June 20 to June 22, 2025, FALA New York will be co-hosting the National Filipino American Lawyers Association’s (“NFALA”) Annual Mid-Year Leadership Summit and NFALA-ganza!, a celebration of NFALA’s LGBTQIA+ network for Pride Month. The Summit will also coincide with FALA New York’s Annual Dinner on June 20, 2025.

The Summit is an annual three-day conference that brings together local Filipino bar association affiliates of NFALA together for a weekend of inspiring speakers, panels, and workshops. The Summit provides an opportunity for the Filipino legal community to foster meaningful connections with attorneys in private practice, in-house, public service, and the judiciary. This year’s Summit will open with a Friday evening reception at a law firm in midtown Manhattan, followed by FALA New York’s Annual Dinner celebration, wherein it awards NFALA Foundation’s Robin Tizón Mangaser Scholarship. The Summit will continue with a Saturday series of panels, presentations, and workshops, followed by NFALA-ganza!, an annual Pride Month celebration honoring NFALA’s LGBTQIA+ network. NFALA-ganza! will be hosted at the historic Stonewall Inn. The Celebration serves as a fundraiser for NFALA Foundation’s LGBTQIA+ Scholarship. Finally, the Summit will close with a brunch on Sunday.

Register for the Summit and NFALA-ganza! at https://nfala.com/event-6153108. Purchase a ticket for FALA New York's Annual Dinner here.

If you are interested in assisting the FALA New York Board and NFALA with planning the event or volunteering at the event itself, please email info@falanewyork.org.
